My approach is different, don't know if better or worse: important news will eventually reach me, the rest is probably not important. This is excluding things I need to react quickly about, which are pretty much constrained to my job.

Why pocket doesn't work for you? I think its search feature is useful to find things. Plus it has tags, but I'm too lazy to use them. There are two things I use: the first is taking notes of my thoughts so that I can remember bett

For size I read there are ways to reduce and/or compress BDDs in literature. As for trading, I get this is a neat programming exercise, but maybe it's better to put in the article a disclaimer on it not being a real trading strate

I know I missed the footnote; still, the quote meaning is sill missing in the article meaning.

I think you're missing what is perhaps the most well known quote about this topic: If you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you.

I hope not: people may then start optimizing for interaction specifically on HN and it will loose its appeal

Sure, that's clear. Mine was an appreciation comment, but all the comments stating all the potential issues don't get that you're not proposing it to the government.

The main problem with this is that someone uses it outside of its intended use cases, which even cultured people are missing. Jokes aside, great hack!

What works for me is a rhythmic schedule but that concentrates all shallow things in the morning and deep work in the afternoon. I'm also more productive in the afternoon evening, so depending on your inclinations the opposite may work

My problem with this kind of things are its assumptions: life is made of carbon, every discovery being conditional probability of being discovered, each civilisation makes exactly the same chain. And the biggest of all: life is the most gen

We probably don't have enough evidence to say something about my point, even less for culling. Let me restate "love for animals and knowledge don't intersect" as "love for animals and skepticism don't intersect

Less violent alternatives may have unwanted consequences, while killing animals is something that actually benefits their genetic pools. It's amazing how usually animal lovers and knowledge don't intersect

I've thought about it and this is why I think HN is better than other news sources. Not that much of a revelation, but thinking about this idea made myself clearer how I should expose myself to news.

I don't think that that can be concluded with certainty, or anything else beyond that the people in that survey with pen and paper were more likely to give their email address for charity.
