The SourceKit daemon is a language server. I wonder if anyone will adapt it to support the MS protocol.

Remember that the Swift compiler is way smarter than Objective-C's. Given how dynamic the language is compared to Swift, Objective-C can make very few decisions at compile-time (inlining, static binding, de-virtualization, strict ty

I have a fundamental problem with this. Someone working on an election campaign still has as much of a right to private (professional and personal) communication as you or I do.

Thanks, I totally missed that. That's pretty great – I thought it was a neat idea from MS, but I was worried it would get any traction. Glad to have been wrong!

For anyone interested in similar tools, Microsoft recently published a protocol[1] for this type of service, and an implementation[2] of it for VSCode+NodeJS. Swift also has a library[3] called SourceKit which does the same thing for Swift

Wait, so because a political opponent identified him (and 2 others) as the weakest and most unpalatable candidates, that means media outlets were "instructed" to prop him up?

On iOS, location tracking is configurable per-app, at least. I can deny the Weather app the use of my location data while allowing the Camera app to access it.

I'd recommend checking out this post[1] by Wil Shipley (a longtime Cocoa dev), which includes a story about how Carmack doesn't re-use code. The whole blog post is a fun read. [1] http://blog.wilshipley.com/2013&#

Then you'd probably want LLVM IR (or an equivalent). It was literally designed to be a hardware-agnostic strongly-typed SSA assembly. And/or you could do what Rust and Swift are doing (with MIR and SIL, respectively), and define

I think the point was that LLVM compiler infrastructure has a first-class C++ font-end. They know the ins-and-outs of language features because they are implementing standards-compliant compilers for said language.

To add to the list, Swift[1] had a code of conduct as soon as it was open-sourced. Mono even adopted one the same day[2] because they thought it was a good idea. The LLVM Project is in the final stages of adopting one[3] (after much discus
