Okay, I admit I found it hard to read the beating transcript in detail so I just skimmed. Could someone tell/confirm for me: is he actually beating her because of a software/design problem?

And how does/did Yishan demonstrate this? I haven't really followed Reddit's corporate history, minus the brief episode with Ellen Pao.

I'm pretty sure that's not what the court would award you, i.e., a job. They would award damages in the form of lost potential income plus punitive damages.

I thought the push for defense spending was to satisfy Trump's political base, who bristle at the thought of spending money for welfare and socialized healthcare, but are happy to pump money into the military.

Why would you do this to yourself, in this market for engineers? If you're going to work at a BigCo, go for one that doesn't abuse you. Otherwise, work at a startup where at least you'll learn a ton and maybe get some equity.

I applaud the writer. Their achievement is not easy. One nit that struck me as a bit odd: they felt that a MacBook Air was necessary for their development. I'm not a front end engineer, so maybe I'm biased, but is that so? Persona

I feel one disclaimer that karpathy modestly left out is that he is perhaps one of the most successful PhD students in his field. This likely impacts his view of a PhD program. I personally survived a PhD myself (also in CS, also in ML, als

Fratty douchebros. Hard to miss in clubs and bars. EDIT: I just realized that's not very descriptive, but all I can say is that the author is not alone in noticing them.

Suggestions for delicious street food in Europe? I travel to Europe pretty often and consider myself quite the glutton but have yet to experience good street food (great restaurants, yes, but not street food).

This is a bit off-topic. I noticed the author was listed as one of "Forbes 30 under 30" in 2014. I'm sorry, but I must ask: how? The other folks on the list include the founders of Dropcam, Snapchaat, Stripe, etc., while the

OOC, Why do people shop at Target instead of Walmart? For me, the only reason is distance---if there's a Target closer than a Walmart. Otherwise the two are pretty much interchangeable.

If you want a cheaper consumer EEG sensor, you can check out Neurosky, which retails ~$100 and also has an SDK. Be forewarned about consumer EEG headsets though: they're slightly less random than a PRNG. Real EEG experiments usually ha
