Looking at overall mortality seems pretty limited. In my 20s I would sit at my desk all week, then go all-out on the weekend. Long bike rides, hikes, backpacking trips, etc. I had pretty good base-level fitness, but ended up with knee pain

Bikes are incredibly personal. Even if someone writes you a check for 100% of the supposed cash value, it takes an incredible amount of effort to replace, customize, and fine tune a new bike. And losing one is a major emotional hit, to be h

After having two bikes stolen at once, I bought Tile trackers for a bunch of my possessions and hid one on my new bike. The tracking in Seattle is good in places with a lot of people around, pretty coarse in other areas, but I'm hoping

Do they have bike-by shootings? But actually I'm really curious how the transit modes of a country impact its crime.

This quote stuck in my brain for a long time and I resonate with it and how I used it at a certain period in my life. It doesn't have to be like this if you approach it differently but in a certain context and state of mind, it's

These topics are incredibly important, and yet it's extremely difficult to make a living studying them, and people are routinely mocked for attempting to do so. One day we will realize that an entire society made up of engineers and ma

I have the Moonlander split keyboard, and absolutely love it. But the problem I constantly have with split keyboards is keeping them aligned the right way. Each half is constantly being pushed and shifted or rotated slightly on my desk so i

The takeaway here is a lesson about how we build cities, not that we should decrease the traffic capacity of some stroads and make no other changes.

During the pandemic, I bought a couple kettlebells and found that you can get a great full-body strength workout with extremely minimal equipment. r/kettlebell has great resources, advice, form checks, and motivation.

I love bike/scooter shares because I can ride one way and if it's raining later, I'll take the bus. Biking is almost always fastest for a short/medium trip. I also have a pretty high tolerance to being out in the rain -

The status quo is ridiculous, but we already have a better solution, dense cities and mass transit. We should be building trains using decades old tech, not AI bs. Of course I'm just shouting into the void but the dream of self driving

The chemtrail crowd will love that. Our experience with covid has stolen any hope I had that humanity would be able to rally around scientifically sound solutions to a common enemy.
