I'm not so sure your usage of the term "full-stack engineer" is accurate here. I consider myself full-stack, but I don't know half the stuff about Chef that our DevOps guy does and I'm ok with that. To me, a full-st

It seems like a fallacy that if a comment isn't read and endorsed by users with over 1000 karma within a certain timeframe it will never be influential. Weren't most of the literary and artistic geniuses completely unappreciated b

Nope. Nothing was assumed. For the first few years of the contract we hosted it. They wanted to move to a Windows platform well after the application was built and in use for several years. The conversion to Windows was itself a separate co

Every time I read complaints from people dissatisfied with open office layouts, my first response is inevitably, "Have you ever had a roommate?" The ability to isolate is great when you need it, but I can't help but get the n

There are about five hundred services that need to do this, to be honest. The separation between a user and an account is one that's largely not valued when people are originally modeling applications, but it probably should be. (Speak

Yeah, I was thinking the same. I'm wondering how much of that could be automated, though, through appropriate system design. The IRS knows when people are dead. Presumably, that system could then alert the BIG system to stop dispatchin
