I buy the first paragraph. Disagree on the 2nd though for two reasons: 1: The codes are outside in a public space. They could easily be replaced, I do not trust them. 2: Even if I trust the code is what the business intended to produce does

Maybe this is common outside of where I live and I'm blissfully unaware, but I went on a work trip recently and was surprised/disturbed by how every lunch/dinner spot was QR code menus. Multiple of these links went through a

Of course but MS has no incentive to compete on merit when Teams is "free" and the users are worse off for it. This sucks. We're not going to get paid more because our IM solution is cheaper but our job will suck that much mo

Yeah I agree it's more than chat/video I just don't see the need. And sorry I meant the native app for excel/word/powerpoint rather than the embedded versions in Teams. The embedded versions generally seem to be mis

I think the downvotes are unwarranted but I understand why people would disagree. Was SharePoint so bad before Teams? Is Teams that much better? I don't really know, my mega-corp work culture isn't "all in" and is not fr

My company also killed Slack when Teams became bundled. With some bureaucracy and a written exception you can continue to use Slack if you're a "developer" which is like ?? but I'm not complaining because the code blocks

As a tool to casually/ephemerally chat I rank best to worst Discord, Slack, Teams. The threading/replies in Discord is easily better than whatever Slack/Teams are doing. Casual VC is better in Discord, code blocks are better

This is very interesting but, and I'm afraid this might be off topic and pedantic, I had to stop reading because Words, maybe only Nouns, were frequently Cased and Bolded (does bold formatting exist on HN?) which made it very hard fo

With the Switch it's more specific to the sticks on Joy-Con and presumably the Switch Lite. Drift affects other controllers as well including Xbox/Playstation. What makes the Joy-Con sticks so horrendous in my understanding is 1)

I regret to admit I was a bit faster than I should have been and probably caused some heart palpitations. I'm 30+ now and shaking my fist at the local college kids. Worst crash I had was a header when I was like 15, mechanical failure

I'm plenty capable I mean I've had like 4 or 5 unexpected ground falls in 20 years. Hung over rushing to class no hands trying to put a water bottle in my back pocket, someone stepped out from behind an on trail overhead bridge su

Oh that is awful! Total tangent but I started doing group rides again recently and am surprised by how few people wear gloves. After my first fall tearing up my hands I decided I would not let that happen again. And since then, it's re

Yeah I'm less concerned about the brewer breaking under normal use, I imagine they've done due diligence there (though personally I would wait a year or so) but I'm more concerned if the mug shatters and then you have all thi

Depends on how you brew and what features you like in the brewer. If you're using it at home, can sacrifice a little more space, and are doing more of an immersion brew then maybe go for a Hario Switch or french press. The Switch looks

Terrifying honestly, my aeropress experiences have always concerned me with if the mug can support the force. I know there isn't supposed to be a lot of force but I've used a few of these brewers and my experience is they're

I've been using Discord since 2017 and in that time I think I've literally never accidentally joined a voice channel? The app even prompts you if you're sure about joining under some circumstances. GP is right, frictionless v

Sort of, the rocket has "engine out" capability. I don't think the number/configuration is known, but it is intended to perform as desired with more than one engine disabled.

I have like 4k hours on Splatoon and I have to say that while you're not wrong, I wouldn't quite characterize it as doom and gloom. 2 was worth $60, the DLC content was worth... what was it even? The 3 DLC is $25. Anyway, the 2 DL

I've used contact cleaner and toothpicks to solve this problem before. It only works so many times, eventually it's just totally shot. I've never had a cable fray but I've had 3 or 4 lightning connectors become useless.
