I agree with the article. What the author doesn't answer is why we're seeing so many visually noisy tables. He seems to imply that designers don't know any better. There are two different "modes" of looking at a t

This looks great! Love the extreme feature reduction and effort to make usage extremely simple. This would have been perfect for my grandmother who lost much of her vision in her last years.

For clarification: it's the same knot (square knot), just a different way of creating it.

When you tie your shoe laces, you're probably using a square knot [1] but with double slip. If your shoe laces often open while walking, you might be doing it wrong (granny or thief knot). If you want to learn just one new, very conven

You will be able to buy a "BMW screwdriver" from China in a couple of weeks. This prevents nothing, it's just annoying and goes to show that BMW is run by dickheads (in case you didn't know yet). Apple's "penta

These kind of obstacles don't work for any action that the user does repeatedly. Dialogs that pop up and ask "Are you sure you want to delete ...?" -> users just automatically click yes, because they already did that the l

I'm with you. What I've learned from all those "programmatic CAD" threads is that some people just really prefer code over anything else. They also build only simple parts, so it's not an issue for them. As the auth

I've also read people have much hate for the Music app. But I think it boils down to 2 things: 1. In certain setups macOS tends to launch it automatically and in unwanted situations, for example when a headset autoconnects. 2. People a

It's probably not gonna help you, but that's possible in Music (macOS). There are two sorting criteria, so you could choose to sort by artist first, then for each album of a given artist sort by year. Or you can sort all albums

I'm not thrilled by the music player options on Linux. I've tried many and found most of them awful. Even the author of this article notes negatives about all of the listed players, which I find unacceptable (except for Recordbox

Yeah, it feels liberating. Every OS is full of UI annoyances and bugs, but on Linux you don't feel so powerless about it. You won't fix everything, but those few things that really bother you, you can fix.
