Throughout history 99% were lower class. This is coming back. Not being secure about housing, education and healthcare puts you into the lower class. The middle class is almost dead.

Middle class is not median. I’d agree that $400k is barely enough to get to the comparable middle class living in NYC. Earning below $100k will get you subsidized college, right?

One reason not to do that is to hide your methods. The usual tactic to show good anti-terrorist results is to inject provocateurs into fringe groups and paint them as thwarted terrorists. I hope that US is not going that route.

Republic and democracy are orthogonal. Constitutional monarchy is usually democratic, and republic can be autocratic. Somehow a lot of people miss that.
