I wasn't aware that there is a difference between Software Developer and Software Engineer? What does the latter entail?

Even if there is high demand for software developers, you might not be much in demand after 40. Just look at the average job page - how many old dudes do you typically see in the "this is our cool company" photo?

The only problem I have is that (some) kids get up so early. Being tired and having to take care of kids is difficult. Other than that, I fully agree with you: just think of ways to make hanging out with your kids more fun/interesting.

I found it striking in Big Bang Theory how even the smartest scientist is not deemed worthy to date a waitress. Nothing against waitresses, but I think it said a lot about values in society.

I'm glad you question the why, it drives me crazy that this rarely gets mentioned. Nothing against IT - I work in it, too. But I also struggle with "finding meaning" a lot. I don't think I ever saved anybody's life.

So why do women become elementary school teachers rather than high school teachers? Although in general it's probably true that women tend to be more risk averse. I've always said that women are probably simply too smart to go int

More women than men study medicine, so for example your "nursing/health aides" example really conveys the wrong picture.

That argument always comes up. And I agree, maybe it is a worthwhile lesson to learn to sometimes do things you don't want to. I'd say it would be worth dedicating maybe 3 months to it. Not 12 years (the length of school in my cou

How are schools not evil? They are compulsory. That's pretty evil in my book - like putting people in jail, except they didn't commit a crime. Maybe they are not all the same. But I worry that they won't try to teach my kids

Uh I think this isn't about you - it's about the problem of (some) boys in school. It's presumably not your fault that they have to endure a "one shoe fits all" approach, but neither is it their fault.

Even when I was a child (35 years ago) it was already common knowledge that hermaphrodites exist. So this is really not shocking news. It's interesting that they have new biological insights, but I'd say it's biologically int

So what is the difference between democracy and communism? It's just assumed that people will have the power to vote, but will voluntarily choose a communist distribution of wealth?

Sure - I'm not saying I am impressed in a positive way. It just amazes me that people even thought of such a thing. Although I wouldn't judge prematurely. I've never had to fire people. Perhaps an unemotional way works better

You think? Maybe they would hire you as a marketing consultant, because they probably never got round to thinking about that kind of thing. Not sure if "marketing" is even a thing in socialist countries like Denmark.

The article mentions that the cars could hire programmers to improve them. Why not also let them hire drivers - that way there would be no need to wait for the technology of driverless cars to become feasible.
