K&P usually refers to Kernighan and Plauger's Software Tools, or The Elements of Programming Style. For the book Kernighan and Pike wrote, The Practice of Programming, the canonical abbreviation is TPOP. Sorry about the pedantry.

The performance optimization part of the article is very relevant to experienced Go programmers. Also, pjw, the W in AWK is on the Go team at Google and Kernighan, the K, wrote the canonical Go book.

Neither of which is very effective. Aikido is not a very efficient form of martial arts, even though it looks good. Jazz is not a popular form of music even though it sounds good. Lisp is not a popular language even though it writes good.
