As an outsider to Europe, but living in the EU, and seeing USA and the EU neutrally, I would say the EU as a whole is intellectually skewed a little bit to the left.

As much as Castro in Cuba. Last week I had a conversation with a man from Cuba, who escaped and is living in Europe… he said sooo many good things about Castro and his mother.

This is happening all around the globe, I would argue. There is title (hyper)-inflation. In the EU are just lots of PhD, doing jobs that hardly require more than some basic training.

I would really like to convince you that you are missing something very important. Please try to make sense of the article, reading it again a trying to find cases where it makes sense for you.

This is exactly the point, also in other comments, quoting Dijkstra. Abstraction not only hide details, but also add semantic value.

That is my thinking too. Joining a group of 10 people, maybe with luck I make 1 friend out of it. I’ve done it in the past, with mixed results. My father would roam through different groups, rotary, lions club, church, fathers of my friends

Specially having same sports interests, does not help in finding people with more or less same values/ world view. I cannot really make good friends with people on the opposite side of my thinking.

I think you are totally right. The clean X books are not a waste of time. I meant that in the sense of “start here, don’t delay this”. I would recommend: read aPoSD, then Clean X series, then again aPoSD ;)
