Fact of life: those who never do a thing, so never do something wrong, easily criticize those who actually do things, because of course, they don’t do all perfectly, and do make mistakes.

My question is: why we have to be stuck in nostalgia? Why isn’t there today a computer with modern processors and GPU which can boot to a REPL, where you can easily interface with all the HW, for example audio and video? I wanted to do some

It has slots. But anyway you do bot need slots at all. MSX was mostly tapes at that time. I’m sure there is either a simulator, or you can generate the sound from binary files.

As far as I read online: yoy can consciously understand, is not the music shifted but you, but it will sound off. There seems to be a “treatment” whichbis to listen to music and gradually change its speed. If done for (i think) it was 2 ha

More difficult. Also little people affected, so not much research going there, and most important, is just a nuisance, not a problem like not being able to see.

That is NOT what he wrote! Is about finding an optimum of all the variables. Also "the best technical solution" is not always the best solution for a company, which at the end, cares only about making money.

Even if my background is different, I did not have debt, and would not directly have incurred in debt by doing a PhD, there was no way I could justify it. At some point I would have to start earning serious money for me and my family. No

Yes. And btw that is what naturally happens after about age 40, together with presbyopia. So real absolute pitch people stop enjoying listening to music at some point... it is a curse, not a gift!

Absolute is no cool at all. At age 40, when physical changes deform the ear (same as with the eyes) your absolute scale will shift. People with real absolute pitch have problems to enjoy music (much worst to play) after 40. I wanted to have

Personal opinion ahead, please don’t be offended: > What about programs with such simple CLIs that they don’t have help? It is crapware > about non English speakers who might be inclined to type —ayuda or something? Come on… really?!

If I’m working in Ubuntu, a GNU/Linux system, I expect to be pretty universal. I’m BSD and Solaris guy, but when I’m in linux, I spect linux. It should be part of PORTING a program, if the option is not supported.

Amen! Some programs give a short help message when options are not understood. A good thing. That said, in GNU/Linux a program that does not have --help is shitware.
