Not to dismiss your hardship, but what was your expected behavior here? It installed the latest version for you, just as you asked... so I'm not sure how it can't be trusted lol

There’s an internarional bible study called Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) [0] that likely has a group in a nearby city no matter where you are (traveling, etc). Weekly meetup. I was a group leader for a couple years, and went for a few years

I use their new code search a lot to grok how people use certain features, or implement certain things. But I do wish there was a way to filter out forks. Sometimes I search a string and just get a bunch of forks all with the same result. F

Granted, I have little experience with on-prem at this point in time. But I imagine it’s a trade-off -- with SaaS, you have to constantly scale technically to support more and more customers, while on-prem would be more focused on scaling s

As a solo founder of a SaaS, I think it is doable solo. But hard. Regardless, I totally get what you’re saying -- I look up to Mike/Sidekiq too, always wanted to do a product like that -- and I’m actually in the process of making my Sa

First version of the distribution API was a Go microservice. But that microservice is now deprecated and its replacement was rolled into the main Rails app. That microservice streamed large files (so I went with Go), but I nixed the streami

If I could easily port my business’s Zapier integration [0] to this (or any other Zapier competitor), I absolutely would. But after writing and maintaining the Zapier integration, it’d be too much effort unless the ROI was really high. [0]:

Except when you can't. It's routinely over capacity for free users.

Small side project, meaning anything that's fine with occasional downtime. You should run at least 2 servers for redundancy, regardless of size. You just can't lean on a single server, even if you can squeeze thousands of RPS out

IIRC, Dokku can only manage 1 server, so it's essentially useless for anything except small side projects that don't need to scale horizontally.

Sorry to hear that. Kagi is doing great things. If you really want to work on search (that doesn't suck), maybe reach out to them?

For small acquisitions like that, I've seen rough multiples of 4–8x ARR. So 6 figures makes sense for $5k MRR.

HN likes open source things. The original submission title said "open source" but it has since been changed.

I saw founders abandon businesses that were working to pivot to "web3." It was wild.

As somebody who's planning on going this route too, I love this blog post and will likely write/do something similar when I get there. Big fan of Cal.com and other open source businesses like it.

I wonder if YJIT actually did decrease infrastructure costs for Shopify, seeing as it requires ~3x more memory. For my business, it’s come out about even. But a >30% decrease in response time is worth it, for me at least. I run many smal

Maybe check out https://github.com/keygen-sh/keygen-go ? Let’s you add auto upgrades to any free or commercial Go app (with support for licensing too). (I’m the founder of the licensing API.)
