Passthrough creates a lot more heat, and that heat hangs around longer, which is not good for the battery. I think Anker said that.

Of course. It's completely normal to use company stuff for your own things, within reason. I print tickets or whatever at work, from my work laptop. Everyone does that, and no one cares so long as it's not abusive. It's a wei

fdroid periodically automatically checks and notifies of updates to apps. You can also "Update all", using the button of the same name, but you will have to press install for each, due to the way Android works, which is a bit of a

Knoppix hasn't been seen as a trendsetter in an extremely long time that I know of. I remember it being a big deal before live CDs became a thing that everyone did, but that's about it.

Pulse has been fine for ... I dunno, a decade or so now. I remember when it was problematic, and then one day I discovered I could do things like send sound to other computers, control different applications independently, turn on bluetooth

That's just saying "I want things to be the way I first learnt them and don't want them to change." This is fine, but you do have to accept that things are going to move on without you.

The article points it out, but it used to be harder than it is now. These days (for a long time now, really), it's hard to set one up that's, say, an open relay by accident. The default configs are pretty much all you need, just r

Thought the same. It needs a good editor to take things out, his thoughts on lemonade aren't really necessary.

In NL we have "Tikkie", where you just have to give them a link, whether it's by whatsapp, email, IRC, whatever. Sounds slightly more convenient as it's not based around a phone number (but can be if that's what you

Public transport is not just metro. It's also trains, trams, busses, etc. Especially trains are good for getting a bit of work done, or whatever. Someone I know commutes from Rotterdam to Amsterdam and uses it as a chance to get throug

This ship has long ago sailed. People are using email less and less these days as it is, anyway. I get personal emails less than once a week now. You'd be better off pushing people to using email for communication in place of walled-ga

What happens when you try? Does it pop up a message saying that your provider hasn't authorised it? I used to use Vodafone NL, and apparently they used a SIM provider ID that matched Verizon or something in the US, so my phone (Pixel 1

That's not the point, the point is people who don't use it for work and are on the free tier. You can only manually delete messages back to 10,000 but ones older than that are stored and you have no control over them. Also, you ca

It doesn't have to be a lifestyle choice. I bike every day, except when my bike is being serviced. I always dress for the destination, and that's what virtually everyone else in this city does.

I live and bike in Amsterdam, which also gets heavy bike traffic. The thing is, things still work more smoothly if you are in the bike lane. The signals there are tailored to you, and you can get a whole pile of bikes through a light change

This is not true. They are not always the same thing and assuming so is a bad idea. My debit card can't be used online except via iDeal, and only sites in this country (largely) support iDeal. I can, however, use it via paypal.

No, the regular home consumer won't know what to do in 5 years time when one of the disks is failing but all they can buy is SATA when it's expecting an IDE connector. Also, next to no one knows what those terms even mean.
