Good points. Sucks that there aren't more facts available. Contract of adhesion: Wow very interesting point. If Tinkov's offer is construed as a unilateral offer, acceptance was only possible by performance (signing and returning

Exactly. I think programmers assume that law is a simple application of rules to facts, and that a computer could do it better/faster/cheaper than humans. But in fact there is so much subtlety and nuance to it that I don't un

I'm a law student and I'm learning about this stuff now so I'm genuinely curious: If Tinkov gave him the unlimited line of credit that he asked for, then didn't they by their conduct consent to his variation of the terms

I'm just starting law school so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, but this is a pretty interesting case since I'm studying offer and acceptance right now in contracts class. It's a bit difficult to analyze this

I can't tell if you're trolling or not but I'll bite. You're perverting the definition of "speech". Creation/dissemination of child pornography is not a statement of opinion (and its malicious too, which w

I am reminded while reading this article, that there exists hundreds of thousands of "casual" cocaine users who are capable of using for short periods of time, even a single night, and then getting on with their lives. This is sup

For a long time French people were mostly unconcerned with learning English. Maybe it's like that in other European countries too, I don't know, but I have lots of French friends so I know its true for them. The French have a lot

Great idea and I hope it gains widespread adoption. That being said, I've had two landlords who insist on being paid in cash so that there's no paper trail. Its not a convenience factor that they're looking for.

I couldn't get this to work and some googling seems to suggest that --enable-precise-memory-info is no longer an option?

Shoegaze is incredibly easy to make and incredibly hard to make well. I'm not surprised to hear that bands are stringing up a couple reverb/delay pedals and then trying to get some of that 90s no$talgia cachet. I think that's

I don't think its that much of a stretch to say that. There was a huge backlash to the shoegaze aesthetic, shoegaze records stopped charting and the original bands broke up or made disastrous attempts to adapt to the new trends ( cough

If anyone's ever watched the documentary "Bigger, Stronger, Faster*" they raise some interesting points questioning why steroids are demonized. Professional musicians take beta-blockers, athletes get laser eye surgery and tak

He even trotted out that worn-out trope that woman use rape allegations as a tool against men. That argument should be taken out behind the barn and shot. Its old and it don't hunt no mo'. I was really hoping for some thought-prov

I'm not really buying this. Look at the Nordic countries that rank highest in the world in gender equality[1]. They certainly don't have problems with men "checking out". In Sweden and Iceland the difference between male

One of the most astonishing parts of dark markets is that it flips the drug-dealing paradigm. Instead of watered-down product sold by unsavory people only motivated by profit, we now have what are essentially drug aficionados who are earnes

Remember kids, you only have a finite amount of connective tissue and cartilage and once its gone its gone. Unless you can pay for a 25000$ exotic platelet rich plasma transfusion or have a secret cache of bio-engineered body parts.

CSS is like an old Alfa Romeo. There's only one mechanic within a 100 miles who actually knows how to properly fix it. The other mechanics can't be bothered to figure it out and just keep slapping more duct tape on top of the old

Interesting how the poo icon is interpreted differently by different mobile developers. Looking at the iPhone, Android and Windows poos: Apple thinks poop is happy, Android thinks its smelly, and Windows thinks its purely utilitarian. [edit

There is a certain stigma associated with lifting weights. The trope of "jocks v. nerds" is far from dead. I will agree though that its a shame that the voice of dissent has to be "artofmanliness.com".
