China is relying heavily on coal power (AFAIK, can't find reliable source quickly). Iceland has clean energy, but in contrary to the popular wisdom "only" ~30% is geothermal, most is hydro. See https://www.electric

I did not have much time so I attended only a few talks. However, I was very pleasantly surprised how well it worked. Not only technically - it just works great having the video stream in a chat window where people can freely talk to the pr

Even in TypeScript optional parameters are very common, so I don't really think it's a JS specific optimization.

I think we were both unhappy the same way and I think there is going to be quite a lot of people with the same experience. While I love[d] learning new things I just hated high school, homeworks, ... as all of that was so boring.

Summer breaks are great if you are going to visit cool places, make new friends on summer camps, ... Not if you are locked home with your parents and doing so many annoying homeworks + attending online lectures

I think that children want back to school as they miss their friends. Also, at least here, the online education not much less painful than going to school - there is more annoying homeworks, lectures are still super boring and attendance is

This seems like unsolvable problem - if you'd want to allow calling C macros from your new language, you would have to be C superset. So no memory/thread/... safety, weird syntax inherited from C, ...

C/C++ and Rust actually run very fine client side nowadays. However, it's just more cumbersome to make UI in those languages, so it's mostly used to port existing libs or for performance.
