Yeah, extremely bullshit on that takeover. Ruff and what I've seen so far of uv are very solid.

You are making the exact same reductivist mistake but in the other direction. > I'm talking about people concerned about the "riff raff" that more permissive land use will bring. The fact that you are making the huge logic

My dogs bark at people on bike/motorcycles/scooters. I think they code as a big animal to them. Once we get up close and it's clear that it's a person on a machine they stop barking.

The real problem is setting "hard but not so hard as to be impossible" goals at any level is really more of an art than a science. If leadership has a strong vision and their finger on the pulse - OKRs will work great, as will any

Great summary of the situation. If you've ever been in the position of trying to explain to a bunch of R users why Python packaging is so much harder to deal with, you know the struggle. R/RStudio really makes it incredibly easy t

I think you should come live for a year in DC and see what you think about the winters. Notice that the comparison also shows it snows quite a bit more, ~~and is on average colder during core winter months~~! Weather is just more of a "

Northern European climates are not comparable to even mid-atlantic US cities. Take a look at a comparison between Amsterdam and Washington DC. https://weatherspark.com/compare/y/51381~20957/Comparison-of... .

It's not a fitness issue. The netherlands is fairly flat and has a cooler climate than any major US city. It's just not possible to be pedaling up/down hills in any amount of heat/humidity and not get sweaty.

E-bikes solve this, they're already basically mandatory for cities with a lot of grade. Personally I run 100% of my errands on a jack rabbit e-bike [0] which isn't even really a bike (no pedals) but a sit down scooter. [0] https:

I've been transitioning some compute-heavy workloads from Lambda/AWS Batch to modal recently and have nothing but good things to say about it. One of those technologies where you are shipping the same afternoon as checking it out.

For pure SWE I don't think I have a great answer for you, but on the ML/DE side there are a lot of industry-specific problems, especially on the P&C side, it helps to have context and experience with: * Rating (a deep, classic

If you want my personal opinion, I think the hype around RAG techniques is mostly a fad. I don't see how it becomes a super broad high value technique that your average DS or ML Engineer is getting paid big bucks to know. It's als

That's a good way of putting it. In my experience so far everyone is very excited to build LLM-enabled apps but outside of some customer service deployments (mostly at the megascale enterprise level), I haven't seen many actually

I mention this in another reply but tl;dr the DS role is maturing and getting cleaved into different specialist skillsets. Research, ML Engineering, MLOps, Data Engineering, Analytics are what I see as the main ones. In 2016 you could get h

You are a little confused. There’s no “compiling” of LLMs. It’s just once it’s trained, inference takes less compute than further training. So you can run things locally that you couldn’t necessarily train locally. Not sure where you are ge
