NSA is part of military, not a part of police force. Socialism or capitalism - this is irrelevant. As long as country has aggressive foreign "interests", organization such as NSA is a nice tool to have.

This article took a huge dive in second half. > Silicon Valley really is a man’s world. Men have great ideas. Men code. Men attract money. Men fund start-ups. Men generate jobs. Men hire other men. Men are the next Steve Jobses, the inno

Tip4commit using USD? Bitcoin is hasslefree. If you want tip4commit to use USD or gold or any other silly thing - go for it. Clone tip4commit, put all integration in place, see payment systems eating 30-40% of your donations.

The whole point in multi-signature scheme is to remove need to trust Coinbase. Your local client and local wallet are fine, until your keys are stolen by malware. Multisig scheme also attempts to fix that flaw. EDIT: multisig scheme with us

In fact Bitcoin design does not contain elements hinting that anonymity was ever a goal. People using Bitcoin over Tor might just want to circumvent censorship aka Tor as glorified proxy.

While I understand well how Bitcoin works, I do not understand what are practical ramifications of going with Straight instead of Bitpay. Selling BTC manually on some exchange? Some AML/KML stuff?

Somewhat different, but there is an attempt to implement BEAM in Haskell: https://github.com/gleber/erlhask This problem (sync/async) is one of the things that is being solved in this project.

CA model is broken (>500 of CAs, race to the bottom in terms of price, security is not a part of their business model). DANE is no better. What we really want is to be able to withdraw trust. There is no point for me to trust some Irania

Have used open-sourced QuickCheck equivalent for Erlang, called PropEr. Great exercise in abstract thinking. Although testing stateful machines in scenarios where time matters turned out to be very hard.

There is a plan in progress that will fix issue with big blocks being a problem for miners. This is a first step of scaling Bitcoin to the level of thousands transactions per second. And it's also a great read. https://gist.

As if cards are not "online in nature"? Bitcoin is, by the way, much ahead of cards in that regard. You can have bitcoin radio and have PoS (coffee machine, ticket machine, shop's PoS) that does not have Internet connectivity

I believe that there is a better reason to ban recursion - it may mask possible execution time of code. Loops are more explicit in that regard. If you are writing a real-time system, you care about those things a lot. Ban of dynamic memory

Never. Once CA, forever CA. Can't remove particular CA on local level (too hard for users), can't remove particular CA globally - because all those legitimate certs signed by that CA.
