100%, I’d do the same if I had children and honestly try to do the same for myself. It’s the only console that keeps gaming simple and fun - no achievements, less cosmetic driven games, etc…

I was being recruited for L6 as a privacy engineer until I took another offer a fortnight ago, fwiw. No freezes there that I’m aware of.

I would say it is. The OP is right that there are many things in life that we don't know for sure, and that it can be liberating to realize that we don't have to have all the answers. However, the idea that ignorance is a virtue i

This is a fun wikipedia article on perverse incentives where you aim for something you want and it has the opposite outcome https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perverse_incentive

This is my goal. I'm currently in the Bay Area but hope to move back to the UK and have a decent sized farm (maybe tickle my tech interests by focusing on hydroponics/aquaponics) to feed my family and then sell the extras at a loc

For context, Coinbase said they'd not rescind offers. They're not rescinding offers. https://www.reddit.com/r/csMajors/comments/v3tmk9/these_comp... https://www.reddit.com/r

Oh I know, I just mean that this is so edge engineering most can only look in awe (those are multiple very cool but complex subjects)

Meta: this is the highest I’ve seen something voted on the front page with 0 comments. Maybe ‘High-throughput’, ‘Formal Methods’, ‘Fuzzing’, and ‘LLVM’ is enough buzzwords to get everyone’s partial attention but not enough to really read!

That’s true of the US but ignores the fact only 3 countries in the world don’t have written constitutions - the UK, New Zealand, and Israel. I’m not being sarcastic when I say a lot of this is managed in the form of strange old traditions t

Do you know how many countries have unwritten constitutions? Hint: it’s the same number of countries that will use the Metric system after Boris has his way. (Answer is 3, albeit they’re different sets apart from the UK)

We don’t have a written constitution, so if you remove all the pomp and tradition it’s highly likely some things do actually go wrong as people forget they’re meant to happen.

Princeton have a MOOC where you build a basic blockchain from scratch, maybe on EDx. I recommend that course but can’t find it on my phone right now!

I’ve enjoyed the challenges of learning about distributed systems, consensus, formal methods… Whatever one might say about crypto in general, blockchain projects can let you work on some things that are fairly hard to find otherwise.

uLisp was too large for a small flight computer I made for a hobbyist rocket - I wanted to use it but had such little RAM I had to go down to C. I think I could have ran lisp-to-c to generate from uLisp which I’ll try on my next project.

I misread the OP as a suggestion it was stable before Azure and is no longer stable on Azure as a general Anti-Microsoft comment. Yes, you’re right.

I could have sworn it was more, but fair enough! I do heavily optimize CI to reduce minutes though, with easy access to local tests (and git hooks to enforce these) and more thorough tests ran nightly on merged branches.

It is for most startups, but not megacorp which has the money anyway. I’ve never gotten close to hitting the CI minutes cap in companies < 100 engineers.

I’m not convinced their constant outages is related to Azure itself, as Azure is very stable. It could be a change of internal staff.

This isn't totally crazy but it's only if you stretch the facts enough. An RSE at Oxford will earn 32k GBP, like a postdoc. In theory, that person could be so good they could get the highest starting salary possible at a Tier 1 pa
