I [ab]use telnet regularly as a debugging tool than its intended purpose. Pretty handy tool to check TCP connectivity.

One of the potential upsides of AI in the USA is we'll bring down electrical prices compared to something like China. Power has to be abundantly plentiful and concentrated. Maybe then, we could afford to smelt an ingot of aluminum in t

@boris Can we please move the "Extended Thinking" icon back to the left side of claude desktop, near the research and web search icons? What used to be one click is now three.

A few good observations, but a few missteps. "AI" (can we just say LLMs?) isn't replacing jobs and more than the steam engine removed our needs for boats. It just made existing boats better, raising individual worker output.

I had this experience with an app called Copilot Money. Wonderful native osx app, with a nice dark mode, but between the non-optional-emojis-burning-in-your-retinas in everywhere plus a few missing key features I couldn't take it. I as

Valid point, Percona pointed that out in the blog actually. The codebase is old, and a lot of ridiculous bugs have been worked out it.

Agree completely. Looking at OpenAIs public financials, Anthropic is likely exposing the true cost, where OpenAI is incinerating unlimited cash for users. I think eventually companies will have the consumers foot the power bill somehow (loc

This is ok, let macroeconomics happen, and instead, enforce monopoly laws. The effect in 2-3 years will be a wider base of suppliers, cheaper goods, and solid supply chains.

After using Anthropic's products, I think it's going to be difficult to go back to OpenAI. It feels more like a discussion with a peer; ChatGPT has always felt like arguing with an idiot on Reddit.

I mean great, but there are 0 commits in 2026 Github for MySQL. I think pretty much everyone is planning a transition to MariaDB or Postgres. MySQL is a beloved OSS product and project. Losing influence over that would be a massive mistake

Per the legal system, arrested is probably safe course of action until they could verify the authenticity of the letter. It's really the ensuing events after that were abysmally stupid.
