In our project (actor.im) we successfully separated logic (cross-platform!) and make it work closely with backend team and we cover together all corner cases. Making UI on top of this is very-very easy.

OSX UX libraries are always was slower than chrome-based. If your chrome-based app is slow then this is problem in your code, not in chrome itself.

If you trust openwhispersystems than on android it is guaranteed to be the same build that was uploaded. All builds are signed by developer unlike apple (where you sign builds to prove that this is your build to apple, not to user).
