I think monopoly power is especially difficult with digital distribution because the company is using technology that everyone else has access to. If Amazon suddenly started overcharging, it would not be difficult for Barnes and Noble or so

This is a good example of why it's bad to develop too much brand loyalty. Software changes quickly. In a few weeks, these problems might be solved in Chrome. But Safari might innovate in other ways. I have been impressed with every web

I'm sorry you saw it that way. I think the DMCA is flawed to the point where crude requests are complied with. I would be happy to respond if you tell me what you disagree with.

Thanks for the advice. I would still consider at least trying them, as I've seen VPS providers change a lot over time. I did see the links posted here to other cheap VPS's, so I'd check those out too.

This article has actually been a pretty good advertisement for me. If I need some quick, cheap servers for non-critical stuff, I will definitely consider using this.

Free drivers are the way to go, but pushing proprietary drivers was never really Ubuntu's fault. It has been a lack of development of free software drivers because of non-cooperation by hardware vendors. But the community has stepped u

Mozilla is still against DRM, but it is secondary to their mission to provide access to web standards. The EFF's lack of effectiveness is not a defense. They do good work, but more is needed. In this case, it's not fair to point t

This is the truth. There has been no effective movement against DRM. The EFF is more guilty than Mozilla in this case because fighting DRM is a core function of the EFF's, while adapting to established web standards is Mozilla's p
