An alternative to to Simple is VaroMoney. Unlike Simple, they are trying to get a bank charter which should give them more control over the bank experience.

The two languages though also have preferred libraries / frameworks. I code in Java again and the main thing that bugs me is being always in the Spring ecosystem. There is a mindset in javaland that every technology needs to be wrapped

I would bet on Scala over Kotlin for the server side. Java is starting to incorporate Kotlin features so in a few years there won't be that much different. Kotlin reminds me of Coffeescript. It was a much nicer javascript but then Java

Maybe but Powerbuilder's components made it far more productive in building business software than VB.

A lot of people view their home as part of their retirement plan. Buy house, raise kids, retire and sell house. Buy new house outside of work center. House prices in places like Redding CA are in the 200K range. Same house in the bay area i

I worked remotely a lot when my kids were young. Awesome taking them to the park at lunch, dropping off and picking up from school. Its just not natural to travel for an hour to sit in a box. Plus I was in the best shape having time to go b

I think you miss my point. Most people DO generate them via an IDE so they don't get looked at closely. But imagine someone then editing one of the generated methods to do something different than expected. Happens all the time.

Exactly which is why no one is going to look at all those getters and setters you added not realizing that one of the setters actually does something other than setting the field or a getter causes some side effect before returning the valu

Taking public funds does not make you a public school. Charter schools do not have the same public accountability as the public schools system.

Checked exceptions suck. Every method has to explicitly throw them up to a higher level where they can be handled causing tons of useless boilerplate. Its much better to just let unchecked exception bubble to a higher level of the app. This

I'm using Elm for an internal customer service app and it is working out fairly well. My background is more server side programming so the ability to avoid javascript and its constantly changing ecosystem is a big plus. Elm the languag

I dunno. I guess my kids find it natural to touch things they see on the screen and they expect the screen to work this way. Different generation I guess. I personally like it because the trackpads on cheap chromebooks aren't as sensit

Chromebooks plus google classroom are all I see in my kids elementary school. Reminds me of the early days of Apple. Kind of funny that you can get a $200 chromebook and it has a touch screen. My $2,500 macbook pro only has a touchbar.

I agree. Java might not be sexy but there is a huge marketplace for java devs. The nice thing is that you don't have to learn a new framework every week. I learned Java in 1998 and spring in 2005 and I still rely on that knowledge toda
