I am surprised to discover that wikipedia appears to not use a standard minifier on their JS, but rather they have a custom one (written in PHP) that appears to just do whitespace-style removal, which they appear to run in part of the criti

This is the point under discussion though -- humans think they're reasoning the same way as the inferencer but can't get it right in the limit, so they're not really equipped to know where they ought to have added type annota

Thanks for highlighting this bit, I also find it very interesting to think about! Here's a related property I've also discovered of 'advanced' type systems. In my understanding of how unification happens in systems like

We (Google TS team) maintain a tool[1] that transforms TS types into jsdoc types for the purpose of feeding them into 'advanced' mode. We also (to answer the grandparent question) maintain a tool[2] that converts Closure-annotate

In case anyone else was curious how you create nonblocking file I/O, it appears to use threads. I am curious if the number of threads is unbounded, or if they have a bounded set but accept deadlocks, or if there is a third option other

I think what you're saying is that morality exists outside of the rule of law, which I agree with. But then you're saying that you think that companies like Google are morally equipped to be able to determine this law better than

NYC's budget is roughly 10x SF's budget. So proportionally, SF could spend ~$320m to match, which is actually right around what it does spend. (NYC is also ~10x the population of SF, etc., so that also lines up pretty well.)
