Nostr is way simpler than ssb, there isn't even a gossip or replication strategy. You just publish your signed messages on servers. There isn't even a blob strategy! This makes it way easier for people to write clients or bots or

Yes, you've got it. Not many people were around back then, but once upon a time there was a working version of Scuttlebot (by Dominic Tarr) that was documented at https://scuttlebot.io/ with a client called Patchwork (

Yah, you've got it. Nostr is heading in this direction that scuttlebot already achieved (at one moment in time) by eventually developing encryption over a wire and having a sync strategy. Right now Nostr (mostly) parks everyone's

I guess what I meant to say, for those who missed out on the good old scuttlebot days, is that encryption is trivial and also you should not be syncing strangers. People have solved these problems before, and we will solve them again.

Yes, this is where Secure Scuttlebot is superior. Why would you connect to people out of your friend of a friend zone? An algorithm should decide who you are relaying.

Jack is great. He has a big heart. He should fund retro secure scuttlebot (rss). We're putting together a team right now.

I've been on that Matrix, there's like one guy in there who thinks that centralized key rotation is real. I didn't really see anyone else while I was there.

Nope, you just generate a new keypair and link to it. It rotates, has done so for years.

You just generate a new key and link to it with your old key.

After using Nostr a bit, I don't think there's a huge difference between SSB and it except that Nostr has no blob sync and they abandoned append-only logs and use different signing key cryptography. Scuttlebutt just suffers from a

Are you sure? It could be that Seth got a parking ticket and the point of the article is that parking spaces should be free and open source spaces. You're free to read into the blog post your own ideas and then they might to become wor

Onboarding wasn't as bad as your recent experience when SSB first started. You just jumped on the same wifi router as your peer and the feeds sank, or got a pub invite and the feeds of the pub's friends were sent to you. It could
