Agreed. Giving ISVs one format to deliver their apps to all the distributions will be a big help. To the distros as well - you don't lose users to Ubuntu because Spotify is only distributed as a deb. For those unfamiliar with "sn

Exactly. Snaps mostly avoid polluting the filesystem the way debs and other package formats do. You still have systemd jobs in /etc and seccomp rules in /var/lib/snapd, but the rest lives in /snap/$app_name
