I think with this initial pool of already signed-up users, Red effectively skips the first stage of user attraction. I am not familiar how accounting works for this, but Red would have a pool of revenue to distribute to from very early on,

If youtube fails to monetize, I think any sane VCs should avoid dumping any money into this area, period.

Remember Youtube's object is not to get rid of ALL ad-blockers, it is make the use of ad-blockers really uncomfortable for the MAJORITY of the internet users.

Not really. Advertising as a way of monetization might be easy to understand, but harder to actually implement and sustain. It is not like 'just put ads on it', then money will flow by itself. It will take some non-trivial efforts

They are running out of ideas. The peace prize has drifted too far to be taken seriously, a perfect example to hijack then abuse the influence, and finally lose it.

But the reason is nobody is seriously using Bing search in China. After they got the laptop, they will change it to Baidu themselves anyway.

Pretty much Apple pays a deal to Wired for this exclusive treatment. But why Wired tries to show an empty article that humiliates everyone else is beyond me.

Wow, obvious Apple is no angel to everyone. But this is hardly new. I believe a lot of magazines released their article in print first then in their web edition for a wider public access. Only thing that is wrong here is this offensive remi

I am not that optimistic on that front. Several things that might happen: 1.Use data mining or machine learning, I believe, the big networks will find ways to distinguish whether a user has enabled ad blockers or not, using only the data th

The war of ad-blockers and anti-ad-blockers will be ugly, I suppose. Say, if Youtube is going to enforce anti-ad-blocking across the site, and I believe the could do that-their Chinese copycat, Youku, has already done this long time ago, wi
