You face the same problem if you want to just list multiple resources based on a query or a filter. The solution isn't to send a GET with an HTTP body, which is counterintuitive to most people, and many proxies just drop. It's to

Our experience, from having gone that route internally and externally (e.g. with JSON-RPC), is that it ends up not paying off to have that separation. From the client side, developers shouldn't need to worry about what piece of your st

Thanks for catching that! Fixing it (it should have pointed to "proto3", not "proto3.md").

You might have been hitting the old JSON-RPC endpoint of that API, which has to return 200 to follow the standard. Or a gRPC version if there's one already. Otherwise HTTP status codes for errors are used, and standardized internally.

As an example: I wish so dearly I could have more than a few physical photos of the summer I spent in England 12 years ago. Of the friends I made, the things we did, and the places we visited. As you say, I barely look at my pictures from 1

Shitty experience of not showing up apart, I know that, at Google, the fact that the hiring manager isn't involved in the selection process is done on purpose, to reduce bias.

Speculating here: Assuming that you only let prod servers access customer data, you can restrict to which hosts the storage servers open connections to. No?

Putting your savings under the mattress instead of in a bank account wouldn't have prevented the Great Recession. It was caused risky mortgages (debts, not savings) being sold as low risk from bank to bank, and then defaulting. Putting

That's a ridiculous argument: Banks started being a thing at the end of the Middle Ages. The Great Depression and the Great Recession were not caused by banks emerging, nor by people putting their savings in them.

Web apps were also very useful for learning JS and browser APIs, before everybody started minimizing and obfuscating it. I learned how to write a rich-text editor just by looking at the code of Hotmail's email editor.

I don't understand how Facebook relates to this, as they don't rent their cloud. Aspiring hackers couldn't tinker with MS Word 2000 code either.

But hopefully a smaller team, and one that keeps diminishing in size over the years if the trend continues. At least for the same level of service (in availability, security, etc.).

That's like being sad about the emergence of banks, because everybody's money is being kept in a small number of vaults instead of under each one's mattress.

Digging into the code reviews of Guava is impressive: if you've ever felt a code reviewer was being too strict, that's probably nothing compared to Guava reviews. And it shows in the quality of the library.
