Web apps (as in what we used to call websites that did stuff instead of just displaying content, not PWAs) did take over the world, enabling the (slow) downfall of Windows. They didn't feel like native Windows apps either, and the web

You're getting downvoted, but public statements by a businessman when a lot of money is on the line are always to be taken with a grain of salt.

In theory you could make a web app look like a native iOS app too, yet in practice developers don't either.

The argument can't go only one way, though. If a web app doesn't get the UI in tune with the OS' look and feel, "the developer should be bothered to create a native app". But if a native app is a massive bloat, &quo

These are good arguments. But they apply verbatim to Java, HTML, and JavaScript in the times of Windows and IE3/4, if Bill Gates had been asked publicly.

As an iOS user, do you ever use websites that are more than plain hypertext, even if they don't try to have an iOS native look?

USB sticks became popular more than a decade ago, and not once have I had one fail to copy or remove a file by dragging and dropping.

iTunes' UI for creating playlists and letting me add and remove songs from the device by dragging and dropping the files could be perfectly compatible.

I get plenty of push notifications from native apps that I find useful: e-mail, twitter, calendar events, chat. I can block those I don't want. That developers can't write a web app if they want as much as the option is ridiculous

Don't lose sight of the forest for the trees: OP's scenario is a strategy in which the project's start (with investment) causes a raise in valuation, and its premature cancellation a smaller decrease in valuation.

There are many factors. To start, many companies were already choosing to run a fork of Android in their products, like the Amazon Echo. This gives you access to Android's APIs, developer tools, and knowledge base, which is a significa
