Very cool! Can't wait. And it's 60 degrees, blue skies, and sunny in Portland at the moment. Just saying ;)

Me too! Can I make a request for Portland next? :) It seems like the easiest way to keep prices updated would be to have an iPhone and Android app (or maybe just a good mobile site) where users or store owners looking to drum up business co

I agree wholeheartedly we should exercise caution! But thinking less of Linux because the military picked it up and said "Hey this is an awesome tool!" seems wrongheaded and counter-productive to me.

Given how much critical American economic infrastructure runs on Linux, there is a strong military case for reporting and fixing bugs. Without economic power, there is no military power.

Exactly! And let's not stop there. The fact that the military uses steel is a big negative for steel in my eyes. If you work in steel production, you're indirectly supporting the U.S. military and by extension murder, aggression, and terror

There are lots of dedicated fans who are locked out by a price higher than $45. To some people, $45 is a huge amount for a single night of entertainment. To other people it is an insignificant amount. Pricing the tickets higher/lower than $

Interesting. I guess I was mostly just focused on the bittorrent integration and block-chain pruning elements, both of which sound great for bitcoin. Just did a very quick skimming trying to understand demurrage currency. Sounds very, very

CL isn't US Steel. I doubt Craigslist even has a straight 40% of rental market share. But for urban 20-somethings looking for cheap living situations and roommates? It feels like it has 95% market share. At least in Portland. This is all th

The first question that comes to mind: why not just use bitcoin? Have you explored adding the features you want to see to the (open-source) bitcoin project?

Most landlords probably never even realize the traffic first got to CL through Padmapper at all. Whenever I'm asked, I automatically just say CL. Bringing up Padmapper is just likely to confuse. CL is deliberately making its service less us

Yes, "If you build it, they will come" works. But: "If they come, especially if 450,000 users come in six months, you will get $10 million dollars. Then you will build it." This could also work ;)

Udacity provides the feedback: "Your code passed 7 of 11 tests. It failed on test: input = [0,0,0]." The tests are arranged in order of normal input to increasingly strange user input, i.e., edge cases. Should be easy enough for Codecademy

In Codeacademy you do learn by building a functional project: a Blackjack game in Javascript. It may not be taking a CS 101 course at an Ivy league school, but it's a great game to get people to start using if statements, loops, conditional

An elegant solution. Sorta like the idea that there should be two leagues for the Olympics, the Tour de France, et al.: one with steroids, one without. It would be interesting to see which got more viewers.

Just got this. Wow. Superbrothers and LIMBO just have straight-up 32-bit or 64-bit .deb packages. (Or tarballs.) So easy. If only all software distribution was done as flawlessly as the Humble Bundle. Spectacular.

I'm doing something similar in Portland and it's about ~$500/month with roommates. So I figure the same: my $12k will be a 12 month window. Our winters are lovely, as long as you don't mind a little wet.
