I'd wager closer to 80-100%. They were $2-$3 last year. Now they are $4-$6. Where do people get this data from? Can't be actually going to the supermarket and writing down a price...

Anecdotally, I've felt the same way. Didn't properly record it.. but, slices these days in NYC (and outside) are definitely lacking in sauce lately. Some places even feel like they're cutting on salt and oil too. I will add t

Awesome article, really enjoyed reading it. Only thing that ruffled my feathers at the end as a MA resident was the solution being additional personnel to monitor a non-problem.

I'm not sure forests being cut down is the problem these days. Wood is one of the most renewable and sustainable materials out there. Old growth has been cut down, or become out of most people's price range at this point in NA, bu

It's a little unclear what they mean here, but that can easily be because of a service/system server model. The third party apps use things like "icloud daemon" (not sure that one actually exists) which does the iCloud r

Can you show me where obfuscation was mentioned? The DSID is transmitted clearly in many web requests from iOS. SSL isn't a form of obfuscation. I don't think there's anything wrong in transmitting an ID to a web service, but

When did bakers first start using decimal? Was it always decimal? I'm surprised, since most things I've seen in the "real world" tend to be fractional.

Android does have crash detection. I understand your claim as Apple values safety, whereas Google does not in their feature releases. But, that is not true. It is true that Google products are mostly garbage these days, so don't get m

You don't even know for certainty that Apple doesn't have the same/similar problems in an unreleased device/OS.... I'm not saying they do have those issues, but how do you know they don't? You can't compar

Could they not have modified the `int` function to `int(thingy, i_really_want_to_do_this=false)`? Edit: Looks like they added a python argument to increase the limit. So if you really need this, I suppose you can search around until you fig

Isn't it potentially a replay attack the poster is describing? In a simple form it seems like this: The attack is you have a briefcase that contains specific RF transceiving components in it. You turn the brief case on in a hidden plac

At least in the USA, you have mainly three choices for "$500+ phones": Pixel, Samsung, and iPhone. The iPhone has been priced very competitively in recent years to the point that they are better hardware at cheap price points than

You'd have to figure out how to get Google GMS installed, and bypass their virtualization/emulator detection. Doable, but a bit more than just boot up some emulators.

Will this version, like regular ChromeOS support a Linux Subsystem (Crostini)? I've recently played a bit with a Chromebook I have for work, best I can describe it is as "ok". It's kind of fun to be able to write emails,

The pixel 3 doesn't stop working after support for it runs out. Same as how that 4th gen iPad hasn't received the last 5 major version releases. (It runs iOS 10, we're on 15 now)

Anecdotally, many NYCers own cars as family units, especially common in the non-Manhattan suburbs. It's just not typically a 1:1 adult/car pairing like the suburbs are.

You typically get stock on a 4 year vesting cycle. After the 4 years a few things can happen: you get another 4 year stock vesting cycle, you get no stock, you get something else.

I'm more surprised the average American only commutes 1 hr (total?) each day to work. Considering most cities during rush hour seem like they take 30 minutes to go 5 miles, and most Americans cannot afford to live near prosperous jobs.

It does add value in the real market. It doesn't add value according to the town property assessor. There's a disconnect between reality and property taxes.

It's true that property taxes are based on the assessment of a home, but it's also not necessarily true that the assessment does a good enough approximation to consider that any house within 1mi of the train is worth 20% more than

Its a nifty Linux that I used for my "fake NAS" running on an old thin client. The docs are fairly simple, and their package manager has mostly everything you need. It's easy to set up a weekly cron job and samba server on it
