Hang on. The logical thing to do, if your real aim is to have browser sign in state reflect cookie state, is to sign out the browser when someone clears their cookies. That would make total sense to users. I think this is clear evidence tha

So it is But will it be there forever? Some other post on HN on this topic implied these options tend to vanish over time. (I'm not sure if they so or don't)

So make an advanced options screen divided into categories. It's not hard. And you don't have to do every possible customisation options, just the ones that people are enraged about.

Oh man, this always Madden's me when a company takes away some option in the name of simplifying for the majority of users. Put it on a screen called advanced options or something, even about:config, and let us decide! That is, if you&

Ubuntu's (failed) Kickstarter raised 12.8 million to build a phone which seems like a lot Purism raised something like 2.5 and are using it to develop their first phone, and it seems to be going great, on track for April release. Ubunt

Is it just me who wishes all the organisations supporting user rights banded together and hit the market as a viable 3rd ecosystem of products? All the Linux vendors, all the distributed social media (PeerTube, mastodon, hubzilla), all the

I've tried containers, and I really want to switch to Firefox because I support their aims, but I found containers really clunky. It might have been the fact that they were tabs in the same window, and it made it harder for me to contr

I wonder if you're in your own filter bubble. As in, if some full blown NRA guy searched gun rights, what would he get?

I get this too. It's bizarre to see "video you watched 4 times 5 years ago" on your homepage. Every day.

I was searching for an exact phrase in quotes the other day, which happened to be close - but not the same - as a popularly monetisable phrase. The entire results were full of the other phrase and not the one I searched for. I kinda hate AI

I'd strongly suggest people create separate users in the browser, one for daily, one for Google, one for Facebook. This way in my regular browsing there's no Facebook or Google cookies reporting on what websites I visit. And with

I'm pretty interested in the real products that millions of people buy that are actually useless. Like all the cosmetics and supplements that don't actually improve anything.

I really want to use Firefox on Android, but I need a couple things: Desperately need the scrolling in Firefox to feel like scrolling in the rest of the apps. And I would very much like easy tab switching by swiping across the title bar thi

The global banking system is used by drastically more people than Bitcoin. And I expect the transactions per person of the global banking system is orders of magnitude higher. Energy use per transaction for Bitcoin seems much, much higher,

Is there any work being done to make Bitcoin not consume all that energy? It's hard to support when it's so wasteful of a critical resource. Are they trying to go proof of stake?

These points are critical. The fact that you have to surrender full control of your own site and content to be featured by Google is criminal. They don't own the web. They could improve their indexing to handle more of the web, but ins
