I think that you and your peers have very realistic expectations of the post-PhD landscape. And I think that these expectations are exactly what this article (and the similar article by Benton that was linked therein) is trying to cultivat

I think that the title is only somewhat misleading. When I think of "stretching" I think of the classical static stretching which is increasingly coming under fire. I grew up calling dynamic stretching "warm ups". I think this is probabl

Very interesting. I had a similar setup in a previous life without any issues, but the "it is at this point unclear what triggers it to do this" is ominous indeed, so it's possible I just went down the happy path where this sort of issue d

I suspect that I'm going to get out of my depth very quickly here, but I'm not sure what the gratuitous breaking change is that you're speaking of; relatively recent MIT or Heimdal krb5 implementations can interop with Active Directory with

Could you summarize this a little? What's the level of pain like? What's the healing time like? How is your vision as a result? I'll likely watch the YouTube series at some point, but I don't have > 1hr to devote to this today so a s

Disclaimer: IANAL > You're exposed to claims if you use someone else's code The article doesn't say that the author of the software is at risk if he/she shuns licensing. It say that their collaborators are at risk. Which is true.

My understanding is that you ran this test once. You sent all the packages - labeled and not - on the same day. And you did this one time. This obviously doesn't control for things like "half the packages just fell off the back of the tr

What view point is being perpetuated? I read that pretty literally - that they should, indeed, try this with addresses in Saudi Arabia. Because, you know, it would be interesting. Even if that's not true, I don't think that this is a scie

There's no ACL for most git clients, they use standard HTTP credentials. Transport security is handled by SSL, we obviously don't expect you to pass this stuff around in plaintext!

From a bigger-picture strategic sense, the Developer Division at Microsoft is concerned about making Microsoft a good platform for developers. Fundamentally, if developers want to use Mercurial on Windows or Git on Windows or TFS on Window

It wasn't taken as such - and we appreciate the criticism, as we've got a fair ways yet to go. I was just wanting to set expectations appropriately since there's been a lot of excitement around here today and even we have forgotten that th

It's important to note that this is a "community technology preview", so while we've put a lot of work into this, you're right, it's nowhere near complete. The underlying technology here is libgit2, which currently doesn't support ssh, alt

Both the Visual Studio and TFS teams use, obviously, TFS for version control. Parts of the TFS team are using git and some of the team is using git-tf, but mostly it's straight up TFVC. But the VS and TFS teams do not use source depot (th

For what it's worth, our analysis is that the ability to replace the libgit2 DLL is a requirement. (Not being a lawyer, however, I don't really remember the rationale here.) So, of course, we ship the source we used to build the DLL and y
