The only exception to this general rule (which, to be clear, I agree with) is when your code for whatever links to LGPL licensed code. A project I'm a major contributor of does this (we have no choice but to use these libraries, due

All I'll say in response to this: good. These adtech companies deserve it. Let the adblockers thwart them every single time they try to do anything. Maybe they [the adtech companies] will learn (eventually) that malicious, privacy inva

Accessibility problems are something both retained-mode and immediate-mode UIs have generally. I've found that you can kind-of hack it together but the best route is to incorporate the actual accessibility frameworks of the operating s

I completely agree, as someone who is disabled and needs to use assistive technology every day. Honestly, I feel like this is a bipartite problem: 1. Companies and individuals don't think about accessibility when designing software. It

I'd love to apply -- this sounds pretty neat! But it looks like all of your positions are in-office, sadly.

I am also concerned about this too as a screen reader user. How do they hide these links from screen readers and assistive technology in general? Did they even test this with AT before deploying it?

Mine (NVDA) isn't annoying about non-ASCII symbols, interestingly enough. But for something like this form of Unicode "abuse" (?), if you throw a ton of them into a message or something, they become "lines" I have t

It's worth noting, just as a curiosity, that screen readers can detect these variation selectors when I navigate by character. For example, if I arrow over the example he provided (I can't paste it here lol), I here: "Smiling

No idea how much the author is experienced at Zig, but my thoughts: > No typeclasses / traits This is purposeful. Zig is not trying to be some OOP/Haskell replacement. C doesn't have traits/typeclasses either. Zig pre

Yeah I don't get this either. I've been looking for a job for like 3-4 years, even an entry-level one, since I graduated college in May of 22 and I still haven't found one. I'm probably doing something wrong (and that&#x

I mean fair enough I suppose? I've always gone with the idea that "don't roll your own crypto" meant not implementing cryptographic building blocks. Which is reasonable and fair. I just take issue with it being something

I... Don't really understand where to draw the line here. I'm not one to write AES implementations or something. But I did write a Noise implementation in C++ [1]. Does that count as "rolling my own crypto", even though

Bit of a possibly unpopular take but I very much disagree. The syntax of windbg/cdb is just... Really bad. I feel like I'm writing assembly and the mnemonics don't actually align with what the command does. So it's diffi

It wouldn't surprise me if this was a significant under-count. I've been applying for jobs for, what, 3-4 years now, both when I was in Uni and after. I don't even know how many job applications I've submitted but I thin
