Hell of a reply. I'd definitely buy you a coffee for it. Thanks for all the considerations. PS: regarding throwing distros at the wall; I used the same installation of Debian for 10 years. It was my workstation and everything else. But

Maybe it seems a stupid question, but it's an honest one: why openbsd rather than freebsd? I tried freebsd when Debian integrated systemd. Being neither savvy or intelligent, I had trouble with the ports system and installations were t

I'll justify asking here because the thread is dead, it seems, probably the "2018". Is there a clean, new method of configuring a persistent boot to cli? A link will do if an explanation is too much.

Fellow Troglodyte, I have booted single user for the last decade, using startx to initiate the desktop environment. In Debian, it always worked, allowing me to observe the console output prior and address anything unusual before going gui.

This always ends up being a sore subject. I don't want to tell anyone what to do. The early fears of mission creep seem well founded to me. Among whatever wonders achieved by systemd, I'm personally disturbed by its increasing ubi

I recently swapped from Debian to OpenSuse and before the first zypper dist-upgrade, verified non OSS was enabled. Then I proceeded to edit videos in openshot, which couldn't recognize the most common formats. Man, I scratched half me

I have a bottle of potassium based salt substitute that I use to supplement K. Can anyone here clarify the pros/cons of this? It's quite wretched by itself, but if used very sparingly is not bad with many foods. As I'm sure a

Whether it's evil or not is a difficult question. I'd say it's at least as bad as satan, considering we can actually confirm its existence. But that it arose naturally from this grotesque universe means it is a valid part of

I suffer the same. I have suspected, for years, that in my case it's several factors. 1. I'm a small person, and in America, I've observed, or think I have, that there's a daddy culture here and a lot of people respect s

I'd be surprised if a duck-billed tardigrade didn't write the works of Shakespeare, unabridged, before I was able to do this. I will at least explore the concepts though.
