You don't have to dig around for the underlying video stream, you can actually just paste a twitch stream link straight into the vlc network stream dialog, I'm not sure what magic it does but that's worked even well before th

This is also useful in case the amazon/google spat flares up again. With this I guess it should be possible to daisychain from twitch to chromecast via vlc if they start another game of brinkmanship over access to video.

This is an interesting read, it's always interesting to hear why something that ought to be fairly heavily federated or sharded can nevertheless fall over centrally.

Don't just tell them you did, but actually create two accounts and only access your own data. Don't try to access others' data. When changing IDs try to stick to ones you know you own on other accounts. If you're lazil

You're right, it's actually 6. When I first read it as "PIN" I assumed it was some kind of quick password alternative for recognised devices and it would need a full password for unknown machines but nope, it's the

I'd like to see maximum lengths too, there may be some unwelcome surprises. The worst password length I've seen recently is Skybet in the UK. It only allows digits 0-9 and has a maximum length of 5.

Most of those already exist, they just have poor UX. My files are all around me, conveniently stored on the //storageserver/share/ drive. File storage UI/UX hasn't changed for 20 years though. I can stand on m

I like this, but for the windows version it would be better to default the notebook directory to either My Documents or something under %appdata%, currently the default is a new directory directly under the users/<user> folder.

1280x1024 seems incredible for 1990, were people using those resolutions at the time? It seems weird to think I'm reading this on a monitor with less vertical resolution than that some 27 years later.

If the transaction hasn't been committed (etched into the blockchain), then isn't there a financial advantage to accepting the highest fee transaction? The protocol doesn't matter, mempools aren't validated or shared[+],

Technically they can be 'returned' by using a higher fee to move the coins to a different address making the original transaction un-confirmable.
