I actually don't agree with this from a UX perspective. The downvote arrow is currently in a predictable position. If you move it after the timestamp, it will be in a variable position. Although, I can imagine how you could argue that

The graph shows a discrepancy when downloading from other sources as well. Steam is reporting 4MB/s while GlassWire shows around ~3.3Mb/s (hard to really estimate). Also, the Apps tab under Graphs says 250Mb for Steam. I have no i

Is the important part the text/call before hand? I can imagine this being implemented at the payment level. You could have a credit card that required authorization before any use. You could ask your kid to text you "I'm lost

It requires at least a year long contract and a hefty set up fee ($200 for a one year contract and $100 for a 2 year if I remember correctly).

It's about liability, the possibility of failure, and touching stuff that isn't yours. If someone does write such a program, it better be thoroughly peer reviewed. That said, I'd prefer to have a bricked router than one with

Simple proof of concept: http://jsfiddle.net/rVxkv/ This opens 2 Thunderbird windows in Firefox 26 but only one in Chromium 31.0.1650.63. edit: I totally agree it shouldn't be possible :)

I played around with columns a few years ago[0] after I first saw them being used. I use some JS to keep the containing div the same height as the window and hook into scroll events. This was several years ago fairly soon after columns were

It's feasible to store the visual input to the player which could be used as a model to base recreate the actual 3d world. The raw visual from many players could be used to simulate a populous with head mounted cameras. It's a potentially l

It got updated maybe a few weeks ago. The style was tweaked and I think there were some changes to fix how the 'Last Visit' break is shown. When I go to read HN I type hckrnews.com.

You might want to check out maldet[0], it does a good job of finding this kind of malware. It supposedly has functionality that'll clean base64 encodes and gzipped base64 but I haven't managed to get it to work. I've posted a comment detail

There is actually a http://news.ycombinator.com/news2 but I don't know in which cases it's linked from the front-page. I have seen it though, maybe it's at times with high traffic?

My entry point to hacker news is actually on hckrnews.com and I took a few design pointers from that site when I made this. I very rarely actually see the front page but this extension improves the comments and other pages as well.
