It’s pretty sensationalist but I don’t disagree with the content of the message: by sticking with a float or flexbox-based grid system from a framework, you’re not learning the intricacies of newer tech like grid. That being said, for most

Plenty just stick with the Financial Independence without getting into Retiring Early. But the latter does imply that you withdraw yourself from work, at least from being a sole contributor to a business you don’t own.

Other than the biggest costs—housing, food, transportation and perhaps healthcare—I doubt people that FIREd have withdrawn 100% from inconspicuous consumption. They just focus that consumption on more necessities than frivolities.

To most of my family in the Philippines, from children to elders, they only started using the internet heavily when Facebook was available (cell phones and decent data coverage were big enablers of that though). Facebook provides clear util

In particular, this kind of low-tech spoofing could have been mitigated if the email client had highlighted the fact that the sender’s “name” was nearly identical to the sending address, and therefore likely a phishing email.

Think a smarter, more sustainable usage model phone companies should depend on is controlled use, not addiction. You eventually just get an unhappy userbase that’s about to burn themselves out of your ecosystem with the latter. Think this

Did you know what caused your 3GS to pass on? Wondering how many phones out there could be given a second lease on life if just given a battery replacement.

My first freelance gig was a friend whose startup just came out of a YC co-hort and needed UI/front-end help (I had just left the company both of us had worked together at at one point). He already knew what I was capable of so there w

This is more of a societal problem and to fix that requires some re-education of people that are coming into and only have been that society for a while, namely: - Be open to strangers - Be open to chance conversations (ie: remove your damn

Where I am in Canada, I haven’t found suburb libraries to be a safe haven either; you have bored, angst-ridden teens wanting to start fights there instead and there’s usually not as much security to stop them compared to an urban library.
