The base FreeBSD installation comes with 2 shells - tcsh and sh (not bash!). However many do install bash. https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/shells.html

In the ACID sense, no it doesn't have write ahead logging or recovery. But it's good enough for government work.

Redis is durable with its bin logs, but if you're pushing many "jobs" through Redis, you will end up wanting to turn off bin logging because of the lag it introduces.

Facebook's the only one I'd consider at an IPO, though Zynga looks interesting. I am on LinkedIn, but really, who goes there when they're not simply updating their profile. I don't see the value in it as a social network.
