In Hetzner's defence, it happened twice on RAID 1 setups on one of our servers, and after dropping a ticket basically saying "look, this is the second time, can you give us a drive that isn't a dinosaur please" they did

Often poor planning or just lithium based batteries far too close to the physical servers. OVH's massive fire a couple of years ago in one of the most modern DC's at the time was a prime example of just how wrong it can go.

I've had the same experience. Hetzners ARM VPS servers have been noticeably better than even their own AMD and Intel (The Intel ones are awful and clearly running on old customer hardware).

On the hardware side of things not using server grade stuff really isn't as big of a deal these days. I'd happily take a decent Ryzen 5 or 7 series over a "new" Xeon that has twice the power consumption and mysteriously

Hetzner has a very bespoke setup. Their DC's mostly run on their own renewable power sources and have been refined to the limit, combined with recycling hardware for longer periods, not using server chassis or off the shelf components

So you're saying its fine to go backwards on a11y as long as you dont remove some settings to switch to an afterthought that doesn't always have feature parity, and is often buggy with little care or thought being given to those w

What shop? What on earth are you on about? Every single business in the entirety of the UK charges 3% more to cover virgin giving away cheaper flights? Use your words as this sounds nuts. Credit card rewards aren't exclusive to the UK

If I am then so is every other traveler with every single airline in the world. Go on Virgin Atlantics site, search for any flight, you can then apply points to that, or redeem a companion voucher. That doesn't bump the price up prior

Bit wary about this. Theres no videos of it ever running, and even the specs cant list basics like print speed. This is vapourware with a terrible license, not to mention likely violates one of the thousands of patents printer manufacturers

Cool concept, just please never ever do this in anything production, it's bad enough we've now got a mainline OS with such awful legibility.

I think the funniest thing about this whole mess is Youtubers asking their viewers to unblock it. Or in LTT's case, consistently banging on about it like it affects their audience - the audience really do not care (nor should they need

The whole "Liquid Glass" UI is by far their worst ever take on a design language. It feels like stepping backwards to web 2.0 but with even bigger accessibility issues. It doesn't look or feel modern, its ugly, inconsistent a

On a somewhat related note, would you trust a Pi based NAS long term? I've not tried doing one since the Pi 4 which understandably because of its hardware limitations left a lot to be desired, but that part aside I was still finding th
