I know that pain. That’s why I’m saying avoid it if you can do so.

Yeah, there’s a reason for everything. But apparently not to use a framework. Thats “always” a bad idea, apparently. I’m not trying to meet anyone in the middle. I’m saying use a framework all the time, every time.

I’m just gonna sit this one out and pick one of the underdogs. Never been a fan of utility classes. What’s number 2 right now?

My gripe is that it’s stuff I don’t always have to care about. If I’m not working with CSS it’s just noise. Whatever way that’s refactored, I only want to see that when I’m working with the styles and I don’t wanna do anything special for i

Funny you said that cus there’s another “look ma no framework!” Thread today.

Yeah, but I meant that because the business value is in the stats, and there is such low quality of stats in the field to begin with, it’s borked no matter what. There’s no point in fixing it. You can just pretend like you did. But if the s

I get your first point. I’m saying it was the most popular so that’s why it’s ideas spread. I’m only thinking of eMacs and Vim cus the editor wars were so big. In the 2nd point, I’m just saying what the popular complaints were. I wasn’t try

Emacs had a GUI and mouse support forever on Windows. It was “bloated and slow”. Yeah the free software stuff didn’t work but that’s not all the editor wars were about. I think we’re just missing each other here. The best features of eMacs

This style comes and goes. Utility classes. Then a framework like bootstrap comes up. Then it’s back to utility classes. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills

Ooo we could go on forever. Let’s start with VS Code. What we want to do is list features. For example, people prefer the GUI and the mouse, non-modal, batteries included. It’s not a bad thing. It’s just been a while. Those editors were wri

But as an addon. No one stole modal editing and the quirky key bindings as a core feature. The real split was whether people wanted an editor to work like an IDE or not. Everyone did. Even Vim. I think it makes more sense they are there for

No, because I said influence. You are thinking adoption. That actually boosts my point

Emacs was a great editor just like Nirvana was a great band. It’s influenced every other editor after it. People are always going to love it. But I think all the best ideas from that era have been taken. I like Vim but EMacs won the editor

Yeah, it’s a smart guy with a bad idea. Story of all of us in HN! There’s always a better way to do things but we live in a fallen world. Some bullshit will always arise to make your life more complicated. It’s like you said, when you hit w

That’s because your premise is weak. You argue that Django is the wrong choice for lots of projects but the counter factual is that our job is to figure that out. We have to choose the lesser evil. It’s not convincing to just call everyone

Yeah but in the end it’s just code. And even better, just R. The business value comes from the stats guy.

There’s levels to the hamburgers. That’s the issue here, veggie folks think meat tastes gross and everyone who eats it is evil and carnivores think vegetables taste gross and vegans are just NPC henchmen for the Illuminati Hilarity ensues.

If you want to meet new people, get a hobby or go to a bar. Like attracts like. It’s all instinctual. Friends, enemies, danger, etc. Noticr how effective your experiment was. Did you try the same approach at a dance club? Why not? No such t
