I rather enjoyed reading about the language, but was a bit disappointed that they made no attempt at static analysis, especially with such a rich set of assertions that the language enforces. I'd really like to see my entire program get del

Are you sure about that? I do not have the tool installed (or anything like it, since I use command-line git), but I see the "Clone in Mac" button on every single github repo I view in my browser.

Sorry to be off topic, but does it bug anyone else that the language Github uses for their native client is "Clone in Mac" and "Setup in Windows", as if the name of their client is "Mac" and "Windows", etc. Not only is this confusing, becau

I think you're forgetting the gold standard in dynamic languages from the 80s: Common Lisp. It's still around, and it's still faster than almost every other dynamically typed language out there. http://shootout.alioth.debian.org/u64/benchm

Ok, where do I get the 9 Gigapixel version? :-) P.S. Yes, I know I don't really need that much resolution, but still.

You should look at Pandoc[1]. It's a Markdown-to-everything converter, and though I'm not super familiar with the code I believe it's well written. One of my favorite tools for writing. [1]: http://johnmacfarlane.net/pandoc/

This has been solved with information flow security (see [1]), but the problem is that performance degrades enough that no one actually uses it. [1]: http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/~lerner/papers/pldi09-sif.pdf

Are there any good descriptions for how Persona works? I can find plenty of developer documentation on this site, but I can't seem to find a good, concise description of what parties are involved and what the protocol is, etc. (Maybe I'm no

The article doesn't actually say that Microsoft is using SSLv2, but if they were, then someone could potentially execute a man-in-the-middle attack against a user of the service. Which is to say, they'd know exactly what you're downloading,

The article would be a little more convincing if the author had checked that SmartScreen actually uses SSLv2, rather than simply running on a web server which happens to support the protocol.

Facebook develops their main site in PHP. They even wrote their own PHP compiler[1], and various other pieces of infrastructure (e.g. [2]). I'm not a huge fan of PHP, but compared to other PHP projects I've worked on their infrastructure lo

If you're going to go to that much trouble, you might as well just compile Emacs to Javascript with enscripten and run it natively in the browser. The download time might be painful, but then we'd have a web editor actually worth using.
