I asked about this in their chat 2 years ago, and the CEO responded directly. His response I believe was that you are allowed to use Timescale on managed servers, but you're not supposed to become a Timescale hoster for others.

The worry I have with code like that is that instead of letting the program crash it often just swallows exceptions. This can lead to a lot of silent errors that one becomes aware of way too late, for example after a lot of data has been co

I don't think the use of structs to implement vtables in C is abuse, but in this case it's rather pointless. This idiom is used to have dynamic dispatch (e.g. a plugin system), an abstraction (e.g. same interface for file I/O

That’s not a parser though. For example the caller would still need to convert escaped unicode characters, floats and bool. I guess it’s an incomplete tokenizer?

The OP knows how to do this but finds it unintuitive and inconvenient. You didn’t read their comment correctly and became verbally abusive.

I only have an X account so I can read tweets that are mentioned on the news or in blog posts. If I ever look at my timeline I see a bunch of AI generated thirst traps.

I don’t think that was ever true. A Stammtisch is not primarily about drinking, with something more refined on the side as an excuse. But I can imagine raging alcoholics like to believe that.

As a German I was really surprised that this isn’t something that’s done everywhere. Personally I’ve been running a Stammtisch for Japanese for 15 years now, and taken part in 2 others for over 10. It’s really not complicated. You ask the b

* I couldn't find anywhere in the standard saying whether this evaluation order is well-defined but it is what clang and gcc do, and luckily, it does not matter for the sake of this article, as we will see shortly.*

Since around Visual Studio 2015 you're fine. I personally use `_MSC_VER >= 1600`, so it's since Visual Studio 2010 from April 2010. Built-in types like __int32 from before then may be used as well.

A lot of people use i64 in the global namespace, so this will affect later code. It's basically `#define true false`. When I consider a library I will do a quick sniff test to look for very obvious mistakes, at which point I won't

It's just that the #if checks for the MSVC compiler, not for Windows as a platform. And on that compiler you will never have LP64, but LLP64: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit_computing#64-bit_data_m... I just

Not sure whether this is tested on Windows at all. I opened the header and immediately found this `typedef signed long i64`, i.e. i64 is actually i32.

I think shoehorning fp onto go just results in people having a wrong first impression of fp, damaging them for years or forever. fp is so much more than map, filter and reduce.

I don’t buy this fatalistic attitude at all. Japan has an abundance of food as well, and Japanese humans are also human. Yet I don’t see nearly the same level of obesity here. The difference is entirely cultural, and yet you argue that we p

What I’m afraid of is that this just ends in an arms race of ever unhealthier lifestyles versus medication to counter-balance that. These aren’t wonder drugs. People just need to stop eating garbage food, and too much of it. And the governm

I also work in that industry and am quite puzzled by the technological inferiority, scope creep and NIH syndrome of the OPC foundation’s standards. I wish they just used sparkplug b and implemented their specs on top of that for semantics.
