I've thought about Ubiquiti in the past, but they are not "stand alone" units right? Meaning I am forced into allowing the units to phone home so I can manage them through Ubiquiti's cloud service? (something I don'

In my early days of learning to program, I spent a lot of time writing console and web apps to better organize bible notes and linking verses together as I read through the bible. Then for extra "fun", I made a spam bot that would

I attended a few newbie classes at pycon2016. A few of them suggested Learn Python The Hard Way, to which I pointed out how the author states to never try installing python 3 on the first page.

Yea I skimmed the rest. This makes me ashamed that I even bought the guys book (Learn Python the Hard Way). His attitude is what is going to kill python, not python 3. I moved from Perl 5 to Python 3 hoping to flee the internal dev fighting

At least for the next 10 years of my life, I don't think I would ever pay more than $10k for a car (used of course). And unless I wreck my current car, I'll probably still be driving it in 10 years. And if the Tesla can smoke tire

I think I'll stick with my 2000 Ford mustang with 220k miles. The syncros in the transmission are mostly out, so I have to double clutch to down shift, but that just makes me feel more in control. Plus I can do awesome burn outs when e

So I did some research. I noticed some people speaking of DMIX in alsa for doing software mixing. One can install some plugin packages to enable a configurable resampler (libasound2-plugins on debian). You can then set /etc/asound

But don't some card have hardware resampling? Seems my sound blaster audigy from the early 2000's advertised something like that. If resampling is such a hog, why can't the sound card do it? Seems like thats the whole point?

For me in Texas, I am kicking myself for paying $800 rent a month for 4 years now (so I've "given" $40k to my landlord). That 40k I've given away would be really nice to help me do a down payment on a house I'd like
