This might border on useless, but to me, if the workers for the most part "demand" a 40 hour work week, and for the most part "demand" over-time pay, etc, this isn't a breakdown in supply and demand. Anarcho-capital

This is exactly the issue with all recommendation systems. It's silly when I look at Amazon and see 15 different cat water trays just because I got one for my cat a month ago - but when it comes to social media the effect is really poi

Heh, I suppose that’ll be a two month vacation then? It’s a strange thing to feel sorry for the DHS though, which I wouldn’t mind seeing shuttered entirely. Petty alternative for a lack of evidence by someone with access to all intel.

If you’re using Kube, I’m building a service to solve this for home hosting. Checkout https://KubeSail.com (YC S19) - we forward traffic to your ingress controller over a tunnel so that you can host public apps on the internet f

That’s part of Krugman’s persona - he does plenty of ranting - agreed on trying other economists. I like Stiglitz but no one is immune from human moments on twitter :P

I'm not sure it's fair to say the statement: "<actions> perpetrated in recent years by fanaticised supporters of <group>" is the same as suggesting <group> is an oppressor. One can criticize the Red Ter

How do you know what a real-world problem is or isn’t? Avoid the intellectual trap of trying to socially engineer the world to your tastes. Watching stranger things might be more important than you realize.

It’s an ownership problem primarily - cities can blame states and states can blame the fed and the fed can blame the contractors. By the time anyone can figure out who’s really at fault it’s election time again. Swiss cantons have virtually

For sure the reasonable responses are edited out - It would take one hell of a world to make a Borat-like film _impossible_ - but that doesn't mean the current one isn't effective. I'm not sure I'd _change_ anything, but

It’s kind of funny to see a lot of posts saying Borat is a racist caricature - well of course he is! The whole point of the character is to see what it takes for some Americans to stop and say “are you kidding me?” Our own political correct

Just got the patch notification! To be honest - I’m more excited by the better visualization of what the car sees than the self driving mode itself. Driving the model 3 is so pleasant that I do not find myself wanting or needing self-drive

“Freedom” defined as “more choice” is simple. The consequences of freedom of choice are -not- simple. Very different meanings.

You're correct, but I meant - lives saved due to lock-down. If the lock-down meant 0 people died from COVID, then you're totally correct. Was slightly hyperbolic I suppose :)

In business, science, philosophy - the first objective is to define your goals. I find these kinds of papers and the general discussion surrounding lock-downs seem to miss this first step. If the goal is to preserve the maximum number of hu
