Good for the artist and good for the customer. By being outraged, you’re only feeding the notoriety that makes the work, yes, work, more valuable to the buyer and seller alike. The world makes no sense whatsoever if you believe in intrinsic

By not sitting in judgment of other people’s decisions which are totally unrelated to me, I am far from “opting out”. I am not the arbiter of what is right, and neither is anyone on earth. c'est la vie

The overwhelmingly negative attitude towards technology on HN lately is upsetting and nauseating. If you don’t like NFTs, don’t buy them (I don’t). If you don’t like some startups product, don’t sign up. In the Boom thread there are people

Probably not appropriate for a large poly-glot organization, but I really like creating shared JS libraries that can be used in the browser and also in Node.js apps. For game development, having the game logic in a shared library makes serv

Guilt should not be related to associations or political beliefs. This is a genuinely dangerous comment. Reserve your judgment for when you’re called for the jury.

Neutrogena is owned by Johnson and Johnson - which just payed out on a case relating to cancer from baby-powders [1]. Combined with Neutrogena being more or less _very high_ in benezine content and J&J having a very deep suite of cancer

Agreed - but it’s a chicken/egg issue there. It’s not clear that behavior is a precursor to social groups. Social groups with no communication behavior would be very hard to maintain. Hard to say tho for sure which comes first

I just saw my unborn son yawn in the womb on an ultrasound today so this brings me a bit of silly joy - knowing his brain folds are just developing and he might be cooling them! That said, the stats nerd in me doesn’t buy this study outrigh

I built “deploy-node-app”, an NPM package to help people deploy their node apps to docker/kubernetes - mostly because I wound up asking the same sets of questions every time and wanted to turn it into a set of prompts for people to fol

As a career SRE - this is more or less categorically false. In the specific case of Google, it is absolutely false.

It’s fairly incredible to think one of those skeletons found on the beach may actually be Pliney the Elder himself. These sort of quasi-mythical accounts being made tangible are amazing. It’s like finding a piece of the Trojan Horse!

The majority of the population of CA lives in the coastal cities - so a pejorative like "beach bro" is super unnecessary and condescending for no reason.

It's generally accepted that cats were useful for early humans because we hoarded grain, and so the cats were anti-rat machines. The anti-snake traits of kitties may be an older and just-as-useful reason we tolerated (and loved) cats t

I value what you've written, and I agree although my experience was (possibly?) the inverse. I was a poor white kid in a wealthy white area. While I lived in that area, I only got to briefly attend a private school because of my mother

2019 M3 SR+ - payed for FSD, am somewhat disappointed. Although it is amazing, it’s nowhere near autonomous. I think it’s very hard to review because it’s a rare person who’s owned multiple brand new 2020-era cars to be able to have a reaso
