Simple. Send the customer to PayPal with a subscription request, the amount and customer id. They activate the subscription and pay. Get that id back via IPN after each new subscription. Deliver the service. Done!

This is unnecessarily complicated. That's why I handle all subscriptions with PayPal.

The key to building an idea is getting excited enough about it. Blind faith is counterproductive, as is faith in general.

My first customer found me before my showHN post ( publicsonar.com - they needed a geoparsing tool). I'm not entirely sure how they found me, perhaps from a talk I gave on my book scanning project. I also don't know how the other

Hi. I used to run a fanfiction site (which I sold about 2 years ago) and one of the things I found quite difficult was monetizing in this field. (I did integrate ebook exporters, readers and other rings and bells into the app after quite a

There is more than one way to do it. Or, only one: Perl.

A new version will address the issue of local names. It will also solve the problem of crossing national boundaries via the integration of OSM admin{} polygons. And add support for elevation up to +-18000 meters. The documentation is quite

Geohash does not provide a one-to-one mapping. Geohashes "u150gxv4" and "u150gxv5" and others, decode to (50.8,4.38). Also, geohashes of many proximal points are very different (see http://geohash.org/f84

That's because a) Polygons are quite large (over 20k square kilometres) b) Manchester is a long name (I limit geoname length whenever possible), c) Manchester is possibly similar sounding to another big city name.

Yes. I've built one of them. https://3geonames.org . Open source. Works offline. No database is needed. Based on geonames.org. I also know of at least 2 other open source alternatives (what3ducks and what3fucks).

I've built an open source alternative, 3geonames.org. The code is made up of 3 Geonames, with the first Geoname being the most prominent location name in relation to actual geography, for eg: https://3geonames.org/LOND

People in the US are more likely to fall for these pitches. Maybe due to the lower average intelligence of the common dude. Just a hypothesis. This phenomenon deserves a deeper inquiry.

Very sad. Indeed for all of those whose life ended in such circumstances. If we could only figure out a way to get extremists to only focus on killing other extremists, we'd all be much better off.
