I assume they specifically mentioned it because it's an Australian website. But upvote, because LOL :D

At first I thought so too as well, but then I started to wonder whether that was just an effect of the first film being black and white. This means that the trees don't stand out as much against the grey background as when they're

Well, you can always apply for a job there, study for your phone interviews, and get invited, plane ticket and all. Heck, you might even get a job out of it ;)

I've always found that construct weird. I tend to use "tl;wr" (the "w" standing for "won't", instead of "didn't"), at the top.

I had originally read fight , and it took me a couple of paragraphs of trying to find out what the struggle was, to finally realise my error :)

No, when there are no bike lanes the instruction is to ride on the car lane, on the right. But there are enough bikes around that the drivers are always aware of them. And usually the drivers themselves are bike riders, or at least mostly e

On a side note: his extremely elderly mother (we're talking older than dirt here; I wouldn't be surprised if she was older than 80). I found your choice of terms interesting :) Most people in their 80s that I know seem to be doi

FWIW: I'm not related to this project, I've only submitted the url. And the video does get a bit annoying. But... TARDIS! In SPACE!

Ah, and Jon Bentley's chapter about quicksort, along whose lines there's a (also very interesting) Google Tech Talk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMnn0Jq0J-E

For those who don't know, this is Rob Pike's chapter of Beautiful Code, a thoroughly enjoyable book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beautiful-Code-Leading-Programmers-P... . Every now and then I read a different chapter, and it's always interest

Click "text only", at the top-right corner. The Google Cache version loads the original images, and this sometimes makes it stall as well.

I'm the submitter (not the author) on this story. I searched for "futurama" before submitting, and didn't find anything related to this cancellation (or "not renovation", as some threads here would prefer). I haven't flagged your submission

Well, I won't try to guess why people upvoted it, I can only tell of why I submitted it: the article (which I haven't written, only come across) is not just moaning about a cancelled series. It discusses the science that permeates it, and i

I submitted this, and as far as I can tell I have a pretty reasonable idea of what "again" means. If you actually click the link, you'll see that it's the title of the original article, by Phil Plait.

I think that is a matter of expectation. In England (AFAIK), series aren't (necessarily) expected to be as continuous, nor even to run through the whole year. So, for instance, Doctor Who could "get away" with a specials-only year, between

Well, Wikipedia estimates the world population at ~7 billion people, and the US population at 315 million. So, "almost everyone" in the world is not an American citizen.

My Malcolm anecdote: In 2008 the Python users group in São Paulo watched Djangocon, streamed live to the local Google Office. I took and tweeted a few pictures of the screen, including this one of Malcolm: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rbp/

True, but it's also a matter of habit. At some point, I knew my wife's preferred tampon "configuration" better than she did. (Then we moved to a different country, everything changed, and now I have no idea)

When I read the "It wasn't an iPhone" bit, I thought they meant it as in "Don't worry, it wasn't an iPhone, so it will probably survive the fall!". Which puts a more positive spin to it :)
