This feels similar to the fallacy that startups have to be venture funded and huge unicorns to be successful. Of course that’s not the only way and there are tons of indie, bootstrapped, or other types of businesses that are built successfu

IMO, sysadmin and devops could be a perfect part-time or retainer type role for many smaller companies. They might need someone to help them occasionally, but not full-time. If I were you, I'd reach out to a lot of smaller (say <10

A bunch of people already touched on probably the easiest way to do it: converting your full-time job to part time. I wrote about it here if it's helpful to you: https://parttimetech.substack.com/p/easiest-part-tim

Hey. Maybe some helpful tips: * I think lots of startups need part-time help when they're early. They need scrappy generalists and people who can write some scripts or do some outreach or whatever. You might be able to fill that niche.

You have experience in languages that have relatively limited hiring pools. My advice would be to look for full-time roles that need help in these languages, email the hiring manager/company, and offer your services part-time or on a c

Very cool. When you say common, can you quantify this at all or are there job boards or listings where people to go find these types of jobs?

I would surmise that a greater normalization of part-time work could increase the size of the workforce or at least not decrease it as much as you think. Just looking at parents, there are a ton who drop out of the workforce because they do

I literally just grabbed 60 eggs from my chicken coop, came back to my computer and saw this hit the front page :D. Certainly agree it's not going to work for most people and it's a privileged position, but trends usually start fr

I think that's not entirely false, but this is a small subset of what part-time work can really look like today and in the future. There are 4-day work week companies that work 40 hours or 32 hours and still provide benefits (including

Is there any way to do this easily from a legal and contractual perspective? The other piece here is that if it's a loan you miss out on tax deductions, thereby potentially reducing the total amount you could give. That also limits the
