It's going to be an interesting war to follow, but not to be in the middle of. Chrome is already nuking the current state of things by introducing sweeping changes in Manifest V3. The one that caught the mainstream was webRequests and

Most likely: RSS has better brand recognition than Atom feeds. There’s probably not a single RSS reader that doesn’t support Atom too.

I guess you assumed 1 customer = 1 new server? For enterprise purposes where data siloes are important a different approach definitely makes sense. We have 300+ new users per day, so our manual system scales well.

Yes, I manually create and configure in the sense that I tweak a number in Terraform templates and manually run the ansible playbook for each new server. It's taken a lot of time to get to that level (I think keeping a setup of bash sc

It's also hard to understand how the network works in K8s and Docker Swarm. Sometimes we'd hit random slowdowns that were impossible to understand (I'm definitely no networking expert) Just restarting the server or moving to

We use DigitalOcean's loadbalancer product, we've also tried Cloudflare's for pure HTTP loadbalancing. We also use a single Redis instance for job queues. We use Graphite and Grafana for monitoring system metrics (running a B

We did at feeder.co. We ran into so many quirks with Docker and Kubernetes that we decided to go back ”bare VM”. It was great! We’re a small team, so any resources save are a great thing. It always felt like we containerized to be able to ”

I made a clone of bubble shooter for my girlfriend (at the time). It was a christmas present from me to her. It was a great learning experience and she loved it! https://github.com/erkie/KM-Bubble-Shooter

One aspect to consider is that it is the tried and true solution. Surely many businesses and a lot of smart people have considered alternatives. It seems, save from actually paying money or living off the generosity of others, ads won.

Elon has mentioned that it’s all hands on deck for Starship. The only resources not on Starship should be focused on making the Dragon secure and certified. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/07/elon-musk-email-to-s

What does this mean for RSS feeds and feed readers? I guess a case can be made for non-cloud readers to be excempt from this logic, but readers like Feedly or our feeder.co?

Seeing the mob mentality surrounding this is honestly scary. All the top voted comments have pretty much decided that this is used for nefarious purposes, with absolutely zero evidence. Same goes for TikTok and the DDG favicon saga from yes

That’s a fantastic idea. It would also be a great place to collect these voices and get a bigger platform in discussions with the platform owners. Almost like a union of sorts...

Before anyone goes applauding Apple’s monopoly here, they should consider the developer experience as well. There is absolutely no innovation from Apple’s side. The API’s are horrible and can barely do rudamentary things like server side ca

Cool to see our extension tested (an RSS reader). What's great with this is that it gives us a metric to work towards improving. I've always been under the assumption that "cpu is cheap", but it does have real effects.

Sorry if I came across as lazy. It’s a sporadic issue that’s more easily fixed with a service restart. Did not mean to come off as entitled. My intent was just to ask for some help from the community.

As someone running MySQL with Go in production and seeing random MySQL connection loss exceptions, is there a summary of how they fixed this? It’s an insanely long article and I appreciate the detail and effort, but if someone has read it a

Really cool, didn't know Vue had this. It's great that it's in the works, and I'm really really looking forward to it. Will it be statically typed s-expression or more like regular JS? I spoke a bit to pzuraq about this

I like and use Ember a lot, but the one gripe I have is that Handlebars uses s-expressions instead of just inline JS. The constant context switch is massive and it’s not possible to hook into Typescript types, and I doubt it ever will. Woul
